the title of this blog post is from a song by van morrison, but here, it refers to my personal journey to heal my voice. in my previous post, i talked about the vocal problem i’ve been dealing with for more than a year and how i’ve finally found medical professionals who are helping me heal my vocal cords.
in addition to taking the medication prescribed by the ENT, i am now seeing a speech therapist regularly, and she is teaching me breath and voice techniques to heal both the bump and the thinning of my vocal cords, due in part to aging.
i’m excited to move forward in regaining my voice.
my insurance is giving me some coverage, but i still have doctor copays, prescription copays, parking fees, and the purchase of various over-the-counter supplies. to a self-employed person, every extra expense is tough. but i really need to do this.
i’ve never been comfortable asking for money, but i feel that there are people who would like to see me making music again who are also in a position to support me in doing that. every dollar you donate will go directly toward helping me sing in public again.
if you are interested in helping me out, you can donate here to contribute to my healing fund. (click “write a note (optional)” and put “vocal recovery”.)
as i said in my previous blog, i’ve been holding back (for more than a year) on recording my songs and posting them here, as well as promoting this website and performing my music for people. the uncertainty about my voice and its future took away my confidence. but now, i’m regaining that, and your contributions will help me in fulfilling what i believe is one of the main reasons i’m here on this planet: to create music and share it with others.
thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and i greatly appreciate any help you can give me.
