when i first heard “all about that bass“, by meghan trainor, i loved it! it’s a great song, very well written! i also knew i had to perform it. 🙂 when i play my solo shows, i sing and accompany myself on bass guitar – no other instruments. i am literally “all about that bass”. the additional pun of “ken doll” was a fortunate coincidence.
my friend, trey johnson, of state fair records, heard me sing it and suggested that we shoot a music video, in order to introduce myself to the world. i agreed that this was a good idea. as a songwriter, i’m looking forward to recording my original songs, BUT my performance of “all about that bass” really captures part of the “vibe” that i’m putting out.
the location for this video is very special to me. i am involved in a mindfulness group called S2P meditation community. for a couple of years, we were meeting at the home of our founder, hali. this place has fed me, both spiritually and socially. i’ve spent many happy and fulfilling hours with good friends and soul mates in this gorgeous back yard. hali has now moved away (i have taken over the leading of the group), and the day we did this video (shot, directed, and edited by trey) was actually the last time i was in that back yard.
my next release will be one of my own songs (plans are already underway), but for now, enjoy my performance of this recent pop classic.
